Yamaha YXZ 1000R
Where Packard boost started. UTV Guide called the YXZ system “by far the easiest forced-induction swap we have ever done on a UTV.”

What a Packard YXZ does.

Where Packard boost started.
The YXZ 1000R is the machine this shop learned forced induction on. A supercharger you can bolt on in a day, turbo systems that have carried YXZs to 400 and 550 wheel horsepower, and the supporting parts that keep a boosted three-cylinder together — all of it still built and shipped from Clearfield.
Supercharger kit
Belt-driven, plumbed off the OEM MAP port, fueled by a piggyback controller. The install is a single afternoon with hand tools — one torque spec that matters and one air/fuel number you verify before you ride.

The Sand Outlaw Series was sand drags and hill drags at Glamis, Sand Mountain, St. Anthony and the Oregon dunes — Outlaw, Mod Turbo and Stock Turbo classes, and the fastest three-cylinders anyone had lined up. Packard-built YXZs staged in every class. The numbers below are dyno sheets, not brochure copy.

Every Packard car in the seriesGreg Biffle, 1969–2025.
Greg started the Sand Outlaw Series. A NASCAR champion who fell for the dunes, he did what nobody does: he bought ground at Glamis and built a compound on it — a runway, a hangar, a workshop — and opened it to the people who raced. Teams stayed there. Cars got built and fixed there. The series lived there, and it raised the bar for everyone in it.
On Dec. 18, 2025, Greg, his wife Cristina and their children Emma and Ryder were killed when their plane went down on approach to Statesville, North Carolina. Others aboard were lost with them.
He gave the sand a place to race and a reason to build faster.
We were proud to run the Outlaw class in his series. We'll keep building the way he'd have wanted us to — flat out.
We're doing it again.
Yamaha moved on from the YXZ. We didn't. The machine taught this shop forced induction, and the lesson outlived the platform: a new generation of side-by-sides is showing up from names that weren't in the sand five years ago — capable, affordable and leaving horsepower on the table the way the YXZ did. We know exactly what to do with that.
Our first CFMoto Z10 calibration is out now. Same dyno. Same sand. Built in Utah.
