Written companion to the Packard YXZ install video. Timecodes at left point to the moment in the video where each step is shown. The video is silent by design — every card in it is here, cleaned up and in order. This guide covers the key points and the fasteners that matter; it does not replace the instruction sheet packed with the supercharger itself.
There is a hidden fastener in front of the intake box. Get it with a 10 mm socket on a long extension.
It is a tight squeeze. Work with it and it comes out.
Remove the sensor from the intake box, plug it back into the OEM harness, and tie it up out of the way.
With the OEM intake gone the engine bay should look like the frame at 00:32 — throttle bodies exposed, nothing left hanging.
The factory lines will not clear the supercharger. Drain first, then pull them.
Hold the front flywheel so the engine can't rotate while you break the bolt loose.
You reuse the OEM flywheel washer with the new pulley shaft and seal. Stack it in the order shown at 01:04, then insert it as a complete assembly — that is the only way it clears the rear frame.
Tighten the seal with a crescent wrench before threading the new flywheel bolt. Then torque the bolt.
Flywheel bolt · 95 ft-lbsSupplied hardware. Reuse the two 6 mm bolts from the oil lines on the supercharger mount.
Make sure the hose clamps do not interfere with the throttle-cable linkage on the throttle bodies. Put the idle-control / breather hose onto the port on the plenum as shown in the video.
Set it so it pulls the plenum in slightly — a little tension toward the head is what you want.
Get each line to its correct location.
Be careful not to tear the inner rubber lining of the oil lines when pressing them onto the barbs. A torn liner is a leak you find later.
Four fasteners, 12 mm wrench. Snug and even.
Pull the OEM MAP-sensor line off the rear of the throttle body. Using the supplied T and line, run a line from that same port to the blow-off valve on top of the supercharger.
Make sure it is plumbed back in properly — a missed MAP connection means the ECU is flying blind.
On the end of the air-filter box there is a rubber dust vent. Point it down so dust can escape instead of collecting.
The belt-tensioner pulley and the billet pulley-support arm are both adjustable. Put the tensioner pulley close to the crank pulley. There are two mounting points for the tensioner — use whichever fits your belt and crank-pulley combination — and the billet arm rotates up and down for fine adjustment.
Belts stretch a little with use. Make sure the belt never rubs on itself; if you see it rubbing, move the arm and tensioner closer to the crank pulley.
Ground it to the battery and plug it into the connectors to the injectors.
It is very important that the air/fuel ratio is no higher than 13.0:1 under wide-open throttle. If it reads higher, add fuel to the top end by adjusting the piggyback controller. Do this before you lean on it.
